Subaru Outback Touring XT

The 2025 Subaru Outback Touring XT blends rugged versatility with premium comfort, making it a standout in the midsize SUV segment.

Powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer-four engine, it delivers 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, offering confident acceleration (0-60 mph in 5.8-6.3 seconds) and smooth power delivery via a refined CVT that mimics an eight-speed automatic. This turbocharged engine, paired with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-Mode, ensures excellent traction on snow, mud, or light off-road trails, with 8.7 inches of ground clearance (9.5 in the Wilderness trim).

The interior exudes near-luxury with Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. The 11.6-inch Starlink infotainment system is user-friendly but occasionally sluggish, with a slightly grainy camera display. Cargo space is generous at 32.6 cubic feet, expanding to 75.6 cubic feet with seats folded, ideal for family adventures or camping trips. The cabin is noticeably quieter than previous models, enhancing the premium feel.

Subaru’s EyeSight safety suite, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring, is top-tier but can be overly sensitive, occasionally misreading driver attention. Fuel economy is decent at 22/29 mpg city/highway, though real-world tests often report 20-25 mpg. Priced at $44,231 as tested, the Touring XT offers strong value compared to luxury wagons like the Volvo V60.

While the CVT and light steering dampen sporty aspirations, the Outback Touring XT excels as a versatile, comfortable, and safe all-weather wagon. It’s a compelling choice for those prioritizing practicality and capability without sacrificing refinement, though a hybrid option would further elevate its appeal.

It gets a well-deserved 4 Lambos.
