One good Hellcat deserves another. We laid our eyes on the new Charger Hellcat. Similar to the Challenger but this car can outperform it because it’s a little more slippery. TorqueNews’ Patrick Rall reports a 0-60 time of just 2.9 seconds. This Dodge makes 100 mph in a scant 7.2 seconds! We look forward to taking it for a lap or two in the future.
Have a plus or minus to say regarding Destiny? Tell Bungie. Their DeeJ writes, “We’ve seen a lot of theories about Bungie on the Internet this week. I understand why that stuff is compelling. The drama of the rumor mill is a symptom of a greater issue: We all want Destiny to be better. The problem is that sifting through gossip in search of truth doesn’t bring us any closer to a stronger game. The launch of Destiny changed things for me at Bungie. Ever since you became a community, instead of an audience waiting for a game, I’ve been invited into a room where a dedicated team is talking exclusively about the next updates for Destiny. Through me, you have a seat at their table. I’d rather spend the precious time we have together coming up with ideas for how the game can better support us as a community. I’d rather we look toward the next update.”
We met the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Drove it on the track. Red key. 707 horses with 650 pound-feet of torque. This thing moves and its supercharger whines and its tires grip and its brakes grab and it’s a ball. Our hellcat experience proved to us just how smooth this beast is! It was also a lot less scary than we would have imagined. Also, at this price, one Hellcat of a bargain.
A 4K GoPro camera for $500. Wow. The HERO4 Black has the $499 price tag while the HERO4 Silver comes in $100 less. While the Black offers 4K at 30fps, the Silver brings a built-in touch display. The HERO4 Black is capable of 1080p video at 120fps. That means you can capture super clear slo-mo. A great improvement in the new HERO4 Black is something many of us have been waiting for…improved audio quality! Here’s some stunning video from these stunning new cameras.
Not your entry-level Challenger and not a Hellcat. The 2015 Scat Pack Challenger still got my attention in a hurry with its 6.4 liter Hemi V8. 485 horsepower and 475 lb/ft of torque. The Challenger Scat Pack scoots to 60 in a mere 4.5 seconds and gets your heart racing, too. Look for a price a little under 50k.
It was almost worth the wait. Bungie is well-known for its legendary Halo series and I wondered if Destiny would pale by comparison. It doesn’t, but it tries to be many things to many players. The worlds created by Bungie are rich and diverse, as you’ve come to expect from the company, but maybe a little too diverse to blend together. It works well as an FPS and I seldom tire of the combat action. Still, maybe a little more FOCUS would serve Bungie well. Quit trying to wrap every game into one called Destiny. That said, I’d certainly recommend it to a friend. Here’s a special price for Destiny for the xBox One.
The iPhone 6 is a great looking device and I hate to cover it all up with a bulky, ugly, case. But, I know that if I left the phone naked it would soon be seen skittering across the pavement. Although the case will probably withstand the shock, the cosmetic wear would be more than I could bear. I outfitted my phone with the latest protective case, which meets military specs, from UAG. That’s Urban Armor Gear. Lots of protection, yet sleet and stylish. Order here for about $30. Although I have to admit that I’m not using the protective screen cover. I like the feel of the iPhone screen and how it rejects my oily fingerprints.
Took a 2014 Camaro SS out to Gingerman raceway in Michigan. I got some High Performance Driving lessons from CGI Motorsports‘ Phil Mirenda. I managed to get my speed up and keep it on the track with the shiny side up! Coming to the end of the season but Mirenda’s got a deal that can’t be beat. All you can eat on the track for a couple hundred bucks.
